New Online Store: What to Do in the First 30 Days After Launch

You launched your store – now what? A 30-day plan: Search Console, Analytics, test orders, first customers, Merchant Center, reviews and first ads.

Your store is live. The first instinct is often to wait for orders – but the first 30 days matter most for whether the store takes off. Here's a concrete plan, week by week.

In short: Week 1 – testing and tracking. Week 2 – Google (Search Console, Merchant Center, Business Profile). Week 3 – first customers and reviews. Week 4 – analysis and improvements.

Week 1: Make sure everything works

  • Test orders with every payment and shipping method – card, cash on delivery, Econt, Speedy.
  • Emails – order confirmation, shipping, tracking number. Check the spam folder too.
  • Mobile – complete a full order from a phone.
  • Legal pages – see required pages for an online store.
  • Google Analytics 4 with order tracking and a cookie banner.
  • Backups – make sure automatic backups are running.

Week 2: Get on Google's radar

  • Google Search Console – verify the site and submit sitemap.xml.
  • Google Merchant Center – free product listings. See the step-by-step guide.
  • Google Business Profile – if you have a physical location or want to appear in Maps.
  • Speed – test the home, category and product pages in PageSpeed Insights.

Week 3: First customers

  • Your inner circle – friends, partners, social media. First orders bring confidence and reviews.
  • Social media – profiles with quality product photos linking to the store.
  • A small test ad budget – to see which products and audiences respond.
  • Reviews – ask every customer for a review a few days after delivery.
  • Newsletter – a sign-up form with a reason to subscribe (useful content, early access to sales).

Week 4: Analyse and improve

  • Which products get views but no sales? Improve photos, descriptions or price.
  • Where do customers drop off at checkout? See how to reduce abandoned carts.
  • What searches does Search Console show? They suggest blog topics and new products.
  • Any 404 errors or indexing issues?

💡 From practice: A store isn't "done" on launch day – that's when the real work begins. The stores that grow are the ones where something improves every month: products, speed, content and SEO.

Frequently asked questions

When will customers start coming from Google?
It depends on competition and content. First impressions in Search Console usually appear within days or weeks; steady organic traffic takes months. Combine SEO with other channels at the start.
Should I run ads right away?
Not necessarily, but a small test budget helps you get first sales and data on which products and audiences work. Start ads once you’ve tested ordering and tracking.
How many products should I launch with?
There’s no minimum. Better 30 products with great photos and descriptions than 300 with one sentence each. Add more gradually.
What should I track every week?
Orders and revenue, conversion rate, abandoned carts, most-viewed products, Search Console errors and site speed.
